Txt 'FANTASY' to 5566 by Harmony Melbourne ©2013

I dearly hope this isn't the template for the future of the written word. This made me cringe worse than E. L. James' "50 Shades Of Grey".

Dialog is always tough.

It's a sign of the times.

Texting is a reality, I see its influence everywhere from bona fide news stories to casual  communications.
Wonder when somebody will write an app to convert texting to real words.
OMG! I Wonder if anyone would buy it?  ::)

It is the form and presentation, more than the "dialogue". "Texting" stories, if this is to be the trend, shows itself to be constricted and thoroughly one dimensional, even when used as this was: a letter. Compare this with the "olde" style of "letter stories" written by, say, HP Lovecraft, or even King's story, "Jerusalem's Lot". This story, to me, is just further proof of the pedistalizing of mediocrity; holding it up and saying, "This is excellence at its finest." Because people have to communicate with "words" in  texting, twitter, and facebook, they mistakenly believe  this equates with creative writing; which is like saying that reality-TV stars should be eligible for Oscars because of their great acting abilities.

Controversy, ah! I remember when I read this I thought: Maybe THIS will get them off their butts and commenting. The submission was unique (I've seen nothing quite like it) and it contained no gross errors. When you compete with the likes of Reddit and Forchan (sp?) and other meme-heavy sites, ya gotta try some stuff. So far, only the usual suspects have commented on this story. Hope we get more. (If not, I'll have to find something else. Maybe a story with nothing but numbers? A story in code? Sanskrit? Linear A? Aramaic?)

I don't think I've ever heard it put quite like that.
