The Anthropic Principle or Hey! I really AM the center of the universe!

The Big Bang Theory is one of my favorite shows. Last Thursday, Sheldon asked Leonard if he was familiar with the Anthropic Principle.

Yeah, my computer hates me. It posted when I hit the shift button. Go figure. Anyway, I looked the Anthropic Principle up on the internet and was very impressed. I dare not hit any extra buttons or it will post again. So please bare with my run on paragraphs or the words appearing any dang where they so desire. This principle states that the universe seems to be designed for the sake of human life. I don't just mean the distance earth is for the sun and all that.Aparently the ratio of the gravitational force constant to the electromagnetic force constant cannot differ from its value by more than one part in 10 to the40 and still produce a universe that can support life. This was suggested by Brandon Carter. I think it was sometime in the 70's. Evidently our universe has no spatial center or, as I see it, in an infinite universe every point is the center. I read Anthropic Principle:A Precise Plan for Humanity by Dr. Huge Ross. This might be the address for it. Knowing me, it might not. Try: http://www.reasons.org/articles/anthropic-principle-a-precise-plan-for-humanity       This is a decidedly Christian article but any article about this principle will give a Christian scientist goose bumps. I would love to hear everybody's opinion on this. I apologise for this crappy thread but, like I said, my computer is out to get me.

Seems like "Meaning of life" stuff and all that. While an interesting theory I don't think you could prove it either way. God setup the universe for just us or we evolved to fit the universe already here.

Not sure I would want either side in a debate.

I think it was Dawkins who said that it is just like the water in a puddle deciding that the pothole it is in was designed and created just to house the water because it so perfectly fit it.

I find Dawkins' analogy absurd, but your milage may vary.

I do see the order and the anthropic principles as HINTS that there may be a GOD behind the curtain.

You can't prove or disprove GOD, so I wish everyone would stop trying.
