Nobody else is reading this wonderful story? Sheesh! Their loss, for sure. Terry, hop on over to http://WhortleberryPress.com. We do several anthos a year. Take a look at our Writers' Guidelines -- see if there is any of our anthos you'd like to try for. (I'm the editor there -- I like your writing. In fact, "Incantation" just might fit our Halloween antho.)

Webbie, thanks for the info that this delightful story is at least getting read. I wonder why the trend today seems to be just read and...wander away. Surely the writer deserves at least a verbal "Bravo, well done!" or something along those lines. Or, if people have a problem with the story, they could state it, and see if anyone agrees with them. Ah well. Times change, I guess -- and not always for the better. (I am thinking back to the dear old days when many posters expressed themselves here on AR.) Anyway, I still think it was an outstanding story.

I think it was a brilliant story. I find it interesting that powerful words were used to tell a story about powerful words. Keep up the good work, Terry.

Now this is more like it! I knew this story was good. That's why I selected it for anotherealm. I guess I'm not surprised that others like it as much as I did. Thanks to all who commented so far and congratulations to Terry. And Jean: any time, kiddo. Whortleberry is more than welcome, here. Thank you for your continued feedback and support.

Congratz, Terry, on the Whortleberry! And a big thanks to Gary and Jean for making that happen. I'm certainly checking out Whortleberry Press and will be making a submission for Strange Mysteries 5. Grin

Incantation.

The story's strength commences with the Bird Poem, giving a credibility to a magical letter.  It sounds authentic and from that
point onwards, we believe.

Then of course underneath the civilized human veneer lurks the
animal kingdom.  Maybe we could run wild in the jungle, live of
the land, no hotdogs.  You know we could really. And maybe
change back.

I wonder how authentic the bird poem really is?
Anyone up for a test flight?

Ok, I've been away a while - it's called "working in the real world"  ;D

I decided it was time to catch up on what had been happening in here, and am so impressed with Incantation. What a great way to get rid of a bully, but also there's the realism of why the boy is a bully.

Well done Terry.
