Hi all!

Aside from greetings, I have a quick question Smiley

I'm looking to submit a story for the current contest, however in the FAQ it says:
"Wordwrap" off is a good option.
"Smartquotes" will be banished.

Does this just mean I shouldn't select Wordwrap?  What about the smart quote thing?  The "how to" info on converting to plain text was helpful to a point, but it didn't cover smartquotes (and it mentioned turning on wordwrap).

Any help would be much appreciated!

Write it in notepad.

See it in good form.

Too many formats make posting difficult.

Webbie, I love the reporter and the werewolf story. It reminds me of those dear old days when I, too, was a reporter. I was stationed in one of the suburban bureaus where we had to scrape desperately to fill the full page allotted to our suburb each day. Fifteen stories we had to write -- and nothing ever happened there.

One day as I was pounding away on some trivial Zoning Board story a man came into the office.

"Yes?" I said. "What can I do for you?"

"I'm a werewolf," he said. "You can write my story."

I was tired, frustrated, desperate to get enough material to send by teletype to my editor -- I could not go home until the page was filled -- and now this crazy man wanted attention.

"No," I said. "I'm not going to write your story. Thank you for stopping, but please go away."

"You're not going to write my story?"

"No. If I did, my editor would fire me. Please go away. I don't have time to argue with you."

He looked rather sad. But since I had turned away and was pounding on the typewriter again (this _was_ a long time ago!) he sighed, turned around, and made his way out the door.

I never heard any more from him.

Fiction after all has to make sense, reality does not.
