What would it take to bring Flash back?
Dec 23rd, 2009, 3:06pm

Please forgive me if this subject has been beaten to death but the constant community interaction surrounding the Flash life-cycle made this a place where authors could do more than seek publication, contest or otherwise.

I remember a vibrant exchange of criticism, commentary, knowledge exchange, tips and praise amongst the writers as ideas were worked and reworked. Like the old Del-Rey boards it created a talent-reactor, and my opinion is confirmed looking out at the numerous sites and ventures that spun out of that - it was "evolution in action." (see: Oath of Fealty)  ;)

It's the rare immediacy of the genre and it's community, engaged in craft and discussion concurrently that makes it more than a dead-run at a thousand words. I found it the most important experience as a writer that I have ever had.

Is it cost, complexity, legal (god forbid!)?

Again, forgive me if I have brought up a dead issue but, having surrendered to the inevitable, I pride myself on being out-of-the-loop.  :-?

[edit:] my smileys seem to have failed...

Regards,
Tom

Dear Tom;
    Flash lives. Do note the opening screen index. Look for Flash under the heading of "Contests."

...I hope my fingers are more agile than the old bean!

Peace and long life to all and Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it!
