Title: How Sci-Fi’s Hugo Awards Got Their Own Full-Blown Gamergate Post by Webbie on Apr 11th, 2015, 11:01am http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2015/04/08/_2015_hugo_awards_how_the_sad_and_rabid_puppies_took_over_the_sci_fi_nominations.html Interesting article on how "Politically Correct" sci-fi has evolved. More importantly, where it is going in the future. Seems like "everyone's" opinion is more important than the story itself. Guess I should take a selfie and post it to #my opinion matters to the world somehow... :-? /wry humor |
Title: Re: How Sci-Fi’s Hugo Awards Got Their Own Full-Blown Gamergate Post by Jeangoldstrom on Apr 13th, 2015, 12:21am Webbie, thanks for posting this essay on the Hugos and the "Puppies." I have seen references to it elsewhere but could not quite figure out what it was about. The essay makes it clear, and "Gamergate" is a good term. Sad to say, I have noticed there is no award/contest that cannot be rigged or fixed. We'll have to watch which way the Hugos go this year to see who wins the shoving match. -- Jean |
