Title: The Wizard Maker by Alyson B. Cresswell
Post by Jeangoldstrom on Jan 3rd, 2012, 7:10pm

What a great start for a new year -- a visit to one of Alyson Cresswell's delightful fantasy worlds. Reading one of her stories really is like visiting a different -- and better -- world. Totally enjoyable!

<Chuckle> and wouldn't that be something...

Write your own world, what a concept!

Alyson, I'd love to live in any of your worlds, too. They are so beautiful!

This is the first time I've read one of Alyson's stories but I agree. You do create a wonderful world. Also, I think the dialogue is very well written.
It makes me wonder what is going on at the Temple. I look forward to reading more of your stories.

Webbie, wouldn't it be fun to actually create the world you write about - each aspect appears as you write.

Jean, 'tis why I write about 'em, ma'am, coz I likes 'em :-)

Adrienne, if you do actually want to read more - check the Anotherealm archives. Years 2000 and 2002 both have my stories listed.
And I'm not quite sure what's happening in the Temple, but it sure isn't good news for wizardkind.

Wouldn't that be something!

Of course to be a real story there would have to be a down side to it all. Perhaps it had to be done in ink so there was no erasing. Maybe the ink would fade over time, and so would the reality. Perhaps if the page was torn from the book it ceased being real or a page inserted into the book became real.

Hmm forgery anyone?  ;)

The concept is interesting but would have to be handled with care. Otherwise it would become the ultimate "magic sword" and get real boring real fast.

It could easily have some lighter moments such as an ink blob on the page becoming real, what to do? Idle squiggles by the author not yet realizing reality would be changed.

It could be a fun story to write.

hint, hint  8-)

Gasp! Mr Webbie, Sir, that sounds more like a horror story than one of My fantasy stories lol

Good ideas there, though. I wonder if anyone will take you up on it :-)

Such an interesting idea just might find its way into one of Webbie's fascinating contests...hmm?

Bravo, Alyson. This is a great story. Excellent job of character development which is always difficult in a short story.

Actually, Mr Webby, after the comments from Adrienne_Ray, I've written a new story where Dion Wayfarer appears again - and there's an idea tinkling around in the head about the Temple and what's going on there. Phew! The brain's working lol.

Just imagine if each story we wrote set in a certain world, built more of that world - like looking through a different window, which I mean rather than the idea of ink blots and things coming to life  :D
