Title: LINE-UP FOR 2010
Post by Gary A. Markette on Dec 16th, 2009, 4:34am

Story selection this year was a bit unusual. We open with a Michelle and we close with a Michelle and in between
are some of the strangest tales I've read so far. Two themes seem to reoccur--handled exceptionally well. See if
you can spot them. Some old friends return to these electronic pages while new talent predominates. I liked all of
these stories foir different reasons. I hope you will, too. Here is the list for 2010:

January
The Satrap's Daughter
by Michelle Scott

February
Fatted Calves
by Margaret Karmazin

March
Birthday Wishes
by Jacqueline Vick

April
A Life Valued
by Alyson B. Cresswell

EDITOR'S EXTRA
Born Dying
by Jahan Claes

May
Shunned
by David Pilling

June
The One That Got Away
by Paula R. Stiles

July
Mentor
by Amanda C. Davis

August
Spike
by Russell H. Krauss

September
Body Double
by Rebecca M. Senese

October
Snagged
by Thomas Canfield

November
The Receptacle
by Walter Jarvis

EDITOR'S EXTRA
Skating in Prague
by Emily Cataneo

December
Mysterious Jesse
by Michele Winkler

Congratulations to those selected and thanks to all who submitted their stories. My best advice: Keep writing! You don't publish 100% of what you don't write.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all

A lot of lady writers this year.  That is very encouraging since Sci-Fi tends to skew male.

Dear Jeff;
Boy, does it! "Back in the day," when I started reading SF in the wonderful era of pulpzines, if you wrote a letter to the editor (letter columns were quite the lively place then) and hoped to see it printed, you had to sign your initials (only) and your last name if you were a girl.
I think the only reason Leigh Brackett made the big time was -- not just because she was a wonderful writer -- but people thought her first name was a guy. Same with Andre Norton.
In some ways at least, the world has changed for the better.
